about

Suantraí is one of the Three Noble Strains of ancient Celtic music and part of a living tradition.

Suantraí (Irish) or Suantraighe (Scottish Gaelic) comes from the Old Irish "súantraige"––suan (“sleep”) +‎ -traí (“type/strain of music”)––and means "lullaby" or "soothing music." It coexists with the Geantraí and Goltraí.

Anglicized pronunciation: SOO-un–Tree (the "r" being trilled or tapped)
